Question

There is a famous poem attributed to Sayyiduna Hassan ibn Thabit (radiyallahu ‘anhu):

وأحسن منك لم تر قط عيني، وأجمل منك لم تلد النساء

خلقت مبرأ من كل عيب، كأنك قد خلقت كما تشاء

Is it authentic?

 

Answer

I have heard My Honourable teacher; Al-‘Allamatul Muhaddith, Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) state that this is unauthentic, especially the last line.

(ًلا يصح روايةً ولا دراية)

 

Shaykh ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) cites his teacher, Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah (rahimahullah) to have said the same too.
