Question

What is the status of the following Hadith?

البر لا يبلى، والإثم لا ينسى، والديان لا يموت، فكن كما شئت كما تدين تدان

Answer

This narration is recorded in Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq and other Hadith collections.

Abu Qilabah (rahimahullah) reports –mursalan– that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Righteousness never perishes, sin is never forgotten, and [Allah] never dies. So act as you wish, just as you treat others so shall you be treated.”

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 20262)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has declared one the chain of narrators reliable (mursalun rijaluhu thiqat).

(Fathul Bari, before Hadith: 4474)
