Is there any Hadith from any source with the words, “من غش ليس منا” as opposed to “من غشنا فليس منا”

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever deceives us is not from among us.”

 

Answer

I have not come across the words من غش ليس منا in any primary Hadith source.

 

The Hadith is recorded in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) and in many other primary sources with the words:

من غشنا فليس منا

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 101. Also see: Hadith: 102)

 

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded the following words:

من غش فليس منا

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1315)

 

The following words are recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud and Sunan Ibn Majah:

ليس منا من غش

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3446, Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2224)

Note: The Hadith has appeared with other similar wordings in other primary Hadith sources. However, I have not come across the words ‘من غش ليس منا’ in any primary Hadith source.
