What is the authenticity of the narration wherein Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“I also will never gain entry into Jannah, except if Allah Ta’ala enshrouds me with His mercy”

Answer

This Hadith has been reported in many Hadith collections on the authority of a few Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum).

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded the following version on the authority of Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ‘anha):

“…None of you will enter Jannah on account of his deeds. They asked, ‘Not even you, O Rasulullah?’ He replied, ‘Not even me unless Allah Ta’ala covers me with His forgiveness and mercy.”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6467 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2818)
