Question

Does the following narration prove:

1. It is Sunnah to visiting people at their homes for the sake of Da’wah.

2. It is Sunnah to visit people at the time of Hajj for the sake of Da’wah.

وعند أحمد بإسناد حسن وصححه الحاكم وابن حبان عن جابر مثله وأوله مكث رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم – عشر سنين يتبع الناس في منازلهم في المواسم بمنى وغيرها يقول: «من يؤويني، من ينصرني حتى أبلغ رسالة ربي وله الجنة؟ حتى بعثنا الله له من يثرب فصدقناه»

Translation

Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ’anhu) says that Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wa sallam) spent ten years (during the Meccan period) visiting people in their dwellings during Hajj, in Mina and other places asking: ‘Who will assist me? Who will give me shelter? So I may convey the message of my Rabb, and he will receive Jannah.’ Until Allah Ta’ala sent us from Madinah and we testified in him.

This narration shows the extreme worry and sacrifice of Nabi (sallallahu ’alayhi wa sallam) for his Ummah, as well as his persistence in da’wah.

Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wa sallam) would use the opportunity of Hajj for da’wah, as it was a gathering like no other during the year. People from all around Arabia would be present.

This is indeed a noble practice that needs emulation even in this day. May Allah reward those who do/are doing so.
