Question

I am searching for the Hadith which mentions how Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would make salam when he entered. The greeting was such that it would not disturb the sleeping person but was loud enough for someone awake to hear it.

Answer

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this as part of a longer Hadith.

The relevant portion is as follows:

Sayyiduna Miqdad (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported: “…Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would come at night and greet in a manner that would not disturb a sleeping person, yet it could be heard by those who were awake…”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2055)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
