A du’a of Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu)

What is the status of this narration:

كان من دعاء أبي بكر رضي الله عنه: اللهم هب لي إيمانا ويقينا ومعافاة ونيّة

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this du’a of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu)

Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would make the following du’a:

اللَّهُمَّ هَبْ لِي إِيمَانًا وَيَقِينًا وَمُعَافَاةً وَنِيَّةً

Allahumma hab li Imanan wa yaqinan wa mu’afatan wa niyyah

Translation: O Allah! Grant me Iman, conviction, protection/safety and intention

(Kitabul Yaqin, Hadith: 6)

The narration is suitable to quote.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

A du’a with a similar beginning [and some additional parts] is recorded from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) as well, which illustrates the need to ask Allah for Iman & Yaqin.
