Question

I heard the following narration regarding the virtue of Ayatul Kursi. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“If one recites Ayatul Kursi, Allah Ta’ala will remove his soul personally [and not the Angel of death].”

Can this be verified?

 

Answer

Hafiz Khatib Al Baghdadi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

The Muhaddithun however, have declared the Hadith unreliable. ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has quoted ‘Allamah Taqiyyud Din As Subki’s (rahimahullah) verdict, ‘This narration is unreliable [munkar], it resembles a fabrication.’ The Hadith is not suitable to quote.

There are other authentic virtues of Ayatul Kursi which should be quoted instead. See some examples here.
