Hakim ibn Mu’awiyah reports from his father, [Mu’awiyah Al Qushayri radiyallahu ‘anhu] that a man once asked Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), ‘What right does a woman enjoy over her husband?’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘That he should feed her when/as he feeds himself and clothe her when/as he clothes himself. He should not hit her on the face nor be repulsive and he should not abandon her except in the house [i.e. If he needs to discipline her, he should separate the bed at home only].'”
