Question

Ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said: “The lowest Jannati will have 1000 palaces and distance between every palace is 1 year.” (Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah)

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as stated above.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said: “The lowest ranked person in Jannah will have one thousand palaces. The distance between each palace is that of a one year journey…”

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 35158)

Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) has graded the chain weak due to a weak narrator.

Notes:

1. Although this Hadith has been reported as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma), the nature of the narration is not such that could be said by applying logic. It will therefore be understood that he heard this from Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) (مرفوع حكما).

2. This narration may be quoted for encouragement purposes, despite the weakness in the chain.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
