Salatul ‘Utaqa (Salah of the emancipated) in Shawwal is the Sunnah for those who want to be emancipated from Jahannam. There is a Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) where Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once said:
“If someone performs eight rak’ahs in Shawwal, either during the night or during the day -reciting in each rak’ah Surah Fatihah and Surah Ikhlas fifteen times – and when he has finished performing his Salah, he glorifies Allah seventy times, and sends seventy salutations upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then by Him Who Sent me as a Prophet Bearing the Truth, no servant will perform this Salah, without Allah Causing the fountains of wisdom to well up in his heart, and causing his tongue to speak with wisdom, and showing him both the sickness of this world and the cure for that sickness…”
This narration is recorded in Al Ghunyah Li Talibi Tariqil Haq, (vol. 2 pg. 249).
However, the chain consists of an unreliable narrator.
(Refer: Lisanul Mizan, vol. 8 pg. 451)
The Hadith is therefore not suitable to quote.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
