Please confirm the reference of this narration:

تعودوا الخير فإنما الخير بالعادة

 

Answer

Imams ‘Abdur Razzaq and Tabarani (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “Become habitual with carrying out good deeds, for good deeds [only become routine] when carried out habitually.

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq: 4742, Al Mu’jamul Kabir: 8755 and 9156)

 

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators of Tabarani credible (rijalus sahih).

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 2 pg. 101, Hadith: 2605)
