Shaytan’s discussion with Nabi Musa (‘alayhis salam)

Question

Can, you confirm if this Hadith is authentic, or even from our sources?

Once, Shaytan approached Musa (‘alayhis salam) and said to him: “You are the Prophet of Allah while I am one of His sinning and disobedient creations. It is my desire that I repent before Him, so request Him to accept my repentance.” Musa (‘alayhis salam) agreed and prayed for him, whereupon Allah said: “O’ Musa! I shall accept your intercession for him. Tell him to prostrate upon Adam’s grave in order that I accept his repentance.” Musa (‘alayhis salam) met Shaytan and said: “Prostrating upon Adam’s grave shall cause your repentance to be accepted.” Hearing this, Satan said: “I did not prostrate before Adam when he was alive, how can I prostrate upon his grave now that he is dead? I shall never do such a thing!” Then continuing, he said: “O’ Musa! Since you interceded for me before Allah you have obliged me. I shall advise you to be wary of me in three places in order that you do not face damnation and ruin.

First: During anger; for in that state my soul is in your heart and my eyes into yours and I flow in you like your blood flows.

Second: During a battle (jihad); for in that state I cause the soldiers to remember their wives, children and relatives in order that they turn back from the battle and flee away.

Third: Never sit with a non mahram [strange] woman in one place for I shall whisper temptations into both of you.”

The great reward for women if they are dutiful towards their husbands

Question

Where can I find the following Hadith and how sound is it?

“Muslim ibn ‘Ubayd related from Asma bint Yazid Al Ansariyyah that she went to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) while he was seated with his Companions. She said,

“I came as an emissary to you from a group of women. Indeed Allah has sent you to both men and women, and we believe in you. Indeed, we women are limited and constrained, though we are the pillars of your houses, from us do you fulfill your desires, and we also carry your children. Indeed, you men have been favoured over us by the congregational Friday prayer and by all other congregational prayers, by visiting the sick, by attending funeral prayers, by performing pilgrimage after pilgrimage, and better than all of that – Jihad in the way of Allah. When men go out to perform Hajj, Umrah, or Jihad, we protect for them their wealth, spin for them their garments, and raise for them their children. Shall we not share with you in this recompense and reward?”

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) turned to his Companions and said, “Have you ever heard any speech of a woman that is more beautiful than this woman’s questioning regarding the affairs of her religion?” They said, “O Rasulullah, we never thought that a woman should be guided to something like this.”

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) turned to her and said, “Understand this, O woman, and teach this to those women whom you left behind: For a woman to be a good spouse to her husband, for her to seek his pleasure, for her to follow and cooperate with him, is equal to all of that (i.e. all of the rewards that men get for their toils or for the deeds mentioned above).”

She left and was making Tahlil and Takbir (i.e. she was saying ‘La ilaha illallah’ and ‘Allahu Akbar’) out of rejoice.”

Three pledges that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) took from Sahabah

Question

What is the status of the following Hadith?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Who will pledge allegiance to me on these verses [In Surah Al An’am, verse 151],

  1. that you do not associate any partners with Him
  2. that you are good to your parents
  3. that you do not kill your children fearing poverty

Whomsoever fulfills this allegiance, then his reward lies with Allah and whomsoever falls short Allah will take him to task in this world. If Allah does not take him to task in this world then his matter lies with Allah. If He wishes he may forgive him or He may punish him”
