Question

Kindly inform me if these are the words of the Hadith?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Do not seek faults of other Muslims or Allah will humiliate you even if you hide in your homes”

 

Answer

The correct wording is as follows:

“Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Al Aslami (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “…Do not search for their [The Muslims] faults, for verily the one who searches for their faults, Allah Ta’ala will take him to task for his faults and the one who Allah takes to task, Allah will disgrace him in his home.”

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4846)

سنن أبي داود (٤٨٤٦): حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة، حدثنا الأسود بن عامر، حدثنا أبو بكر ابن عياش، عن الأعمش، عن سعيد بن عبد الله بن جريج عن أبي برزة الأسلمى، قال: قال رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم-: «يا معشر من آمن بلسانه ولم يدخل الإيمان قلبه، لا تغتابوا المسلمين، ولا تتبعوا عوراتهم، فإنه من اتبع عوراتهم يتبع الله عورته، ومن يتبع الله عورته يفضحه فى بيته».
