Is this narration authentic?
“Be patient till you meet your Rabb, for no time will come upon you but the time following it will be worse than it”
Answer
Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration. The narration is therefore authentic.
Zubayr ibn ‘Adiy (rahimahullah) complained to Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) regarding the oppression of Hajjaj ibn Yusuf. Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, ‘Be patient, for no time [year] will come but that the time [year] after it will be worse than it until you meet your Rabb [i.e., until you pass away]. I heard this from your Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Disclaimer: In principle, the signs of Qiyamah are ambiguous and nuanced and only Allah Ta’ala Knows their precise timing and exact application. One should certainly take heed from such Hadiths and signs, despite their application to specific events being open to interpretation.

صحيح البخاري:
(٧٠٦٨) – حدثنا محمد بن يوسف، حدثنا سفيان، عن الزبير بن عدي، قال: أتينا أنس بن مالك، فشكونا إليه ما نلقى من الحجاج، فقال: «اصبروا، فإنه لا يأتي عليكم زمان إلا الذي بعده شر منه، حتى تلقوا ربكم» سمعته من نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم.

(٧٠٦٨) – قوله: «من الحجاج» أي بن يوسف الثقفي الأمير المشهور والمراد شكواهم ما يلقون من ظلمه لهم وتعديه وقد ذكر الزبير في الموفقيات من طريق مجالد عن الشعبي قال كان عمر فمن بعده إذا أخذوا العاصي أقاموه للناس ونزعوا عمامته فلما كان زياد ضرب في الجنايات بالسياط ثم زاد مصعب بن الزبير حلق اللحية فلما كان بشر بن مروان سمر كف الجاني بمسمار فلما قدم الحجاج قال هذا كله لعب فقتل بالسيف.
قوله: «فقال اصبروا» زاد عبد الرحمن بن مهدي في روايته اصبروا عليه.
قوله: «فإنه لا يأتي عليكم زمان» في رواية عبد الرحمن بن مهدي لا يأتيكم عام وبهذا اللفظ أخرج الطبراني بسند جيد عن بن مسعود نحو هذا الحديث موقوفا عليه قال ليس عام إلا والذي بعده شر منه وله عنه بسند صحيح.
