In the following chain of Sahih Bukhari, who is Huzayl? Kindly provide some information regarding him as well as the meaning of this name. Can I keep this name for a male?

حدثنا قبيصة بن عقبة، حدثنا سفيان، عن أبي قيس، عن هزيل، عن عبد الله

The chain you have cited appears in Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6753

His full name is Huzayl ibn Shurahbil Al Awdi Al Kufi (rahimahullah). He was a reliable narrator and was a Mukhadram (A Mu-min who did not meet Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) despite living during the pre-Islamic age as well as the Prophetic era).

He reported Hadith from many Sahabah including Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas, Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, Sayyiduna ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan and Sayyiduna ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (radiyallahu ‘anhum).

His Hadiths appear in all of the Sihah Sittah except Sahih Muslim.

Huzayl means lean/skinny. You may name a boy Huzayl.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
