Question
Is the following Hadith suitable to quote?
Answer
Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There is no deed that will gain you proximity to Jannah, except that I have ordered you to carry it out and I have prohibited you from all deeds that will take you close to the fire. None of you should feel [that his] sustenance is [coming to him] too delayed. Jibril (‘alayhis salam) cast in my heart that no one will leave the world until he completes [his allotted portion] of sustenance. Fear Allah O people and be moderate in seeking [sustenance]. If one of you feels that his sustenance is delayed, you should not seek it through the disobedience of Allah, for Allah’s Kindness cannot be attained through disobedience.”
(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 2, pg. 4)
The Hadith has also been reported with more that one chain. It is well corroborated and suitable to quote. ‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has also indicated toward the reliability.
