Question
Is this Hadith Authentic?
“Whoever reads one hundred salutations [durud] after Maghrib Salah on Thursday, Allah Ta’ala will fulfil one hundred of his needs, thirty in this world and seventy in the akhirah [Hereafter].”
Answer
Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded the following narration in his Hayatul Ambiya on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu)
“….Whomsoever sends salutations on the eve of Jumu’ah and on Jumu’ah Allah Ta’ala will fulfil one hundred of his needs, seventy in the akhirah [hereafter] and thirty in this world..”
In the narration of Ibn ‘Asakir, Daylami and others the following words appear:
“Whomsoever sends one hundred salutations on the eve of Jumu’ah and on Jumu’ah…”
Note 1: There are various versions of this Hadith. The above is one of them and is suitable for practice since it has sufficient support from the other narrations.
Note 2: This Hadith specifies any time during the eve preceding Friday (which commences after Maghrib on Thursday) and Friday itself.
