Question
Is this narration authentic?
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The (whole) earth has been made a Masjid [or a place of prayer] and a means of purification for me [for tayammum], so wherever a man of my ummah may be when the time for prayer comes, let him pray.”
Answer
This is part of the Hadith which discusses Nabi’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) specialities over the other Ambiya recorded by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah).
The Hadith is therefore authentic.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 335,438 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 521, 523)

This Hadith illustrates the ease that Allah Ta’ala has bestowed the Ummah with. Salah in a masjid is ideal, but still permissible on any piece of ground that is not impure.
