Question

Is this authentic?

The ruqyah of Jibril (‘alayhis salam):

Bismillahi yubrika wa min kulli da-in yashfika wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad wa sharri kulli dhi ‘ayn

Answer

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith. The Hadith is therefore authentic.

Sayyidah ‘Aishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reported that when Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) fell ill, Jibril (‘alayhis salam) would recite the following as ruqyah [a means of cure]:

بِاسْمِ اللهِ يُبْرِيكَ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ يَشْفِيكَ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ، وَشَرِّ كُلِّ ذِي عَيْنٍ

Bismillahi yubrika wa min kulli da-in yashfika wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad wa sharri kulli dhi ‘ayn

Translation: In the name of Allah [may He] cure you and may He heal you from every illness and [protect you] from the evil of the jealous person when he feels jealous and from the evil of the evil eye.

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2185)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
