I am searching for the reference of this Hadith:

ليس الشديد من غلب إنما الشديد من غلب نفسه

 

Answer

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith and has declared it authentic (sahih).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “The strong person is not one who can overpower others [verbally or physically]. Rather, the truly strong person is he who can control himself [i.e., He has control over his carnal desires, he can control himself when he is angry and he can control his tongue.]

(٧١٧) – أخبرنا محمد بن أحمد بن أبي عون قال حدثنا هناد بن السري قال حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن سعيد بن مسروق عن أبي حازم عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «ليس الشديد من غلب إنما الشديد من غلب نفسه».
