Question

Where is this quote mentioned?

Al-Alusi (rahimahullah) has said:

“It is customary for men of value to reassure women’s hearts because of their weakness. This is why it is recommended that when a man gives something to his children, he should start with his daughters.”

Answer

‘Allamah Alusi (rahimahullah) has written this in his Tafsir Ruhul Ma’ani, under the Tafsir of Verse 139 in Surah Al An’am wherein the polytheists would favour their male offspring over their female offspring.

He writes: “It is customary for men of value to reassure/console the hearts of women because of their weakness. Therefore, it is recommended that when a man gives something to his children, he should begin with his daughters.”

(Tafsir Ruhul Ma’ani, Surah Al An’am, Verse: 139, vol. 8, pg. 457)
