Question
What is the authenticity of the following narration?
عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد القاري، قال: سمعت عمر بن الخطاب، يقول: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا أنزل عليه الوحي سمع عند وجهه كدوي النحل فأنزل عليه يوما فمكثنا ساعة فسرّي عنه فاستقبل القبلة ورفع يديه وقال:اللهم زدنا ولا تنقصنا، وأكرمنا ولا تهنا، وأعطنا ولا تحرمنا، وآثرنا ولا تؤثر علينا، وارضنا وارض عنا، ثم قال صلى الله عليه وسلم:أنزل علي عشر آيات، من أقامهن دخل الجنة، ثم قرأ: {قد أفلح المؤمنون} [المؤمنون: ١] حتى ختم عشر آيات
Answer
Imams Tirmidhi, Nasai and other Muhaddithun have recorded this Hadith with a weak chain.

Translation
Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “When Wahi (revelation) would be revealed to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), a [buzzing] sound like a cloud be heard by his face. Once revelation came to him so waited for a bit. When this condition subsided, he faced the qiblah, raised his hands and said:
اللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا وَلَا تَنْقُصْنَا، وَأَكْرِمْنَا وَلَا تُهِنَّا، وَأَعْطِنَا وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا، وَآثِرْنَا وَلَا تُؤْثِرْ عَلَيْنَا، وَأرْضِنَا وَارْضَ عَنَّا
Allahumma zidna wa la tanqusna wa akrimna wa la tuhinna wa a’atina wa la tahrimna wa athirna wa la tu-thir ‘alayna wardina warda ‘anna
Translation: O Allah! Increase us [in good] and do not decrease us, grant us honour and do not disgrace us, grant us and do not deprive us, prefer us [i.e., grant us Your Mercy] and do not prefer others over us, allow us to be pleased [with whatever You have decreed for us] and be pleased with us
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then said, ‘Ten Verses were revealed to me, whoever abides by them, will enter Jannah. He then recited the first ten Verses of Surah Al Muminun (Surah 23).'”
Despite the weakness, the du’a is still suitable for recitation.
