Question

Please provide the reference and Arabic text for this du’a:

“O Allah! Protect me from bad manners, evil desires, evil deeds and dreadful diseases”

Answer

This narration has been recorded in several Hadith collections with variation in the wording. Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has recorded the version cited in your query.

Ziyad ibn ‘ilaqah reports from his uncle; Qutbah ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) used to say, “Allahumma jannibni munkaratil akhlaqi wal ahwai wal a’amali wal adwai.”

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1 pg. 532. Also see: Kitabud Du’a of Imam Tabarani, Hadith: 1384)

Arabic text

اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنِي مُنْكَرَاتِ الْأَخْلَاقِ، وَالْأَهْوَاءِ، وَالْأَعْمَالِ وَالْأَدْوَاءِ

Allahumma jannibni munkaratil akhlaqi wal ahwai wal a’amali wal adwai
