Is this narration authentic?

This narration is recorded in Musnad ‘Abd ibn Humayd.

(Al Muntakhab Min Musnad ‘Abd ibn Humayd, Hadith: 603. Imam Tabarani has recorded the last part of the Hadith only. See here.)

Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) states, ‘The Hadith is gharib‘ and has declared one of the narrators weak.

(Refer: Tafsir Ibn Kathir, preface of Surah Mulk)

However, certain parts of the Hadith in question are corroborated. See here and here.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) once asked someone, ‘Should I gift you a Hadith which would please you?’ The person replied, ‘Certainly.’ Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said, ‘Recite Surah Mulk, teach it to your family and children, the kids living in your home and your neighbours, for this Surah protects [from the punishment of the grave] and will dispute on behalf of those who recited it on the Day of Qiyamah, by your Rabb. It will seek that [Allah] save this person from the punishment of the grave. The reciter will be saved from the punishment of the grave. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘I wish that [this Surah] was in the heart of every person of my Ummah.'”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
