Question

I am looking for the correct translation and the reference for the following Hadith. Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that  Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“…Allah abhors those who indulge in shameless talk and use indecent language.”

Answer

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“There is no action weightier on the scales of a believer on the day of judgement than good character and verily Allah detests one who is obscene and uses indecent language”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2002, declared authentic by Imam Tirmidhi -rahimahullah-)

(٢٠٠٢) – حدثنا ابن أبي عمر قال: حدثنا سفيان قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار، عن ابن أبي مليكة، عن يعلى بن مملك، عن أم الدرداء، عن أبي الدرداء، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «ما شيء أثقل في ميزان المؤمن يوم القيامة من خلق حسن، وإن الله ليبغض الفاحش البذيء».
وفي الباب عن عائشة، وأبي هريرة، وأنس، وأسامة بن شريك وهذا حديث حسن صحيح.
