Statement of Imam Suyuti about the level of Hadith books

Is the following statement correctly attributed to Imam Suyuti (rahimahullah)?

“Everything contained in these five books (Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sahih of Ibn Hibban, Mustadrak of Hakim and Al-Mukhtarah of Al-Maqdisi) is sahih. Similarly, is with whatever is in Muwatta of Malik, Sahih of Ibn Khuzaymah, Sahih of Abu Awanah, Ibn Sakan and Al-Muntaqa of Ibn Jarud, and Al-Mustakh rajat. And everything that is in Musnad Ahmad is acceptable because the da’if therein approximates hasan.” Read More »

Is every Hadith in any Hadith source automatically acceptable?

Is it alright to quote a Hadith, as long as you know that this Hadith is in a reliable Hadith collection, for example Tirmidhi or Ibn Majah?

As far as I can understand, there is sometimes ikhtilaf (different of opinion) in Hadith authentication.

So, even if for example Imam Suyuti (rahimahullah) or Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) declared a particular Hadith in Tirmidhi or Nasai as da’if, it does not mean that this is absolutely correct, because if Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) or Imam Nasai (rahimahullah) collected this particular Hadith in their collections, it automatically means that this Hadith is at least considered hasan by Imam Tirmidhi or Imam Nasai.

Is this correct? Read More »

Authenticity of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

Are all the Hadiths in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim really authentic?

I ask this because there are numerous notable and prominent Scholars who believe that there are many weak narrations present in Bukhari and Muslim. They even provided references of several weak Hadith for that.

On the other hand, there are numerous scholars who believe that all narrations in Bukhari and Muslim are authentic, and there is no question on this. However, both of these groups of scholars cannot be right at the same time. I want to ask that are all narration in Bukhari and Muslim really authentic?

A Hadith falsely attributed to Sahih Bukhari

Where in Sahih Bukhari does this Hadith appear?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“In three situations, if you pray du’a, it will definitely be accepted:

1) When your body starts shaking.

2) When you got fear in your heart.

3) When you got tears in your eyes.

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) also said: “Whoever shares this knowledge, he will have a house in front of me in Jannah” (Bukhari)

Please verify this for me as it has become very popular on social media.
