What is the source for this?

Thabit asked Anas: O Anas. did your hand touch the hand of Rasulullah? I said yes. He said: Show me, I will kiss it.

 

Answer

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

Thabit asked Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu): “O Anas! Did you touch the hand of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) with your hand?” He replied, ‘Yes.’ [Thabit] said, ‘Show me, I want to kiss it.'”

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 111)

 

The narration also appears in Al Adabul Mufrad, Hadith: 974 of Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) and Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 51 with slight variation in the wording.
